FAQs
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be beneficial for anyone looking to work through personal challenges, develop better coping skills, or improve mental well-being. If you’re experiencing anxiety, self-doubt, relationship struggles, or other concerns, therapy might be a great option to explore. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out for a consultation to discuss whether therapy would be helpful.
How do I start therapy for myself?
I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation, during which we will discuss what brings you to therapy and how I can help. Please send me an email through the Contact page. If we decide to work together, we will begin weekly sessions as soon as scheduling allows. The first two sessions include a clinical interview, discussion of current issues, and treatment plan. Beginning with the third session, I will provide psychoeducation about symptoms and treatment begins.
How do I start therapy for my child or teen?
We will schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation to discuss your child’s current concerns at home, school, and in other settings. The clinical intake takes two hours, one hour with your child and one hour with you. During the caregiver interview, I will gather background information and propose a comprehensive treatment plan. I offer guidance on how to communicate with your child about starting therapy before their first session.
What types of therapy do you offer?
I offer a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), Executive Functioning (EF) Coaching, Cognitive Therapy, and more. Please see the Approach page for a description of what is offered.
What is your availability?
I see clients from 1-9 pm EST on Mondays-Thursdays and 1-6 pm EST on Fridays.
How long are sessions?
All sessions are 50-minutes long and scheduled on a weekly basis initially. As clients make progress, some may choose to shift into biweekly sessions or monthly check-ins. Therapy will always grow with you.
Do you offer sliding scale fees?
Yes. I have a limited number of sliding scale spots reserved for clients with financial need.
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider and thus do not accept any insurance. However, I provide all documentation needed to individuals to submit to their insurance for reimbursement once payment is made.
I recommend contacting your insurance provider and inquiring about your out-of-network benefits, including which CPT code(s) are reimbursed. I use the CPT codes 90837 (60-minute therapy session) and 90834 (45-minute therapy session).
Do you offer in-person or virtual sessions?
I offer hybrid sessions, primarily via telehealth with in-person sessions in the Upper East Side, NYC and Honolulu, HI available quarterly. I use HIPAA-compliant video platforms to ensure privacy and confidentiality for all virtual sessions.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
Please cancel or reschedule 48 hours before your scheduled appointment to avoid a charge equivalent to the session fee. Additionally, appointments that are not attended will be subject to a 'no-show' fee equal to the session fee.
Can I get a copy of the workbooks you’ve written?
Yes! I offer workbooks and worksheets to support personal growth and healing, including workbooks focused on overcoming social anxiety, healing from codependent relationships, ending people pleasing behavior, and managing stress. You can find more information and purchase them in the Resources page or contact me directly for more details.
